Here we go again!! The first game of yet another new era sees the Blues had to Goole AFC in the NCEL, kick off is at 3:00pm

Blues News

It’s been a hectic week for the Blues off the field as last weekend’s 4-2 defeat to Golcar saw the end of the James Baxendale era after only 13 league games in charge.

The Blues made a shocking start to the game, going 3-0 down inside the opening 15 minutes. However, hope was restored after half time when two quick goals from Jack Varley and Jamie Tomlinson dragged the Blues back into the game.

Despite pushing to find the equaliser, Frickley were just unable to find that telling moment and Golcar secured the points late on with a 4th goal to end Bax’s spell in charge.

It was the Blues 6th straight defeat in all competitions and 7th game without a win that has seen the Blues fall to 17th in the NCEL and in desperate need of a positive result to change fortunes.

So we go on to the next challenge. Senior players Jack Varley and Lewis Binns have stepped up to lead the lads on an interim basis and they have had two very positive training sessions during midweek. Let’s hope for a bounce into Saturday’s fixture.

Bax’s appointment at Armthorpe has seen Zach Cooper and Owen Dale follow him from a player perspective, and Jamie Tomlinson’s loan has ended with him returning to Doncaster Rovers and then moving onto Sheffield FC.

However, the Blues have added as well with Marcel Chipamaunga coming into the squad from Goole to add some extra cover. And the rest of the boys are all ready and raring to go to pick up the 3 points.

Our Opponents

Saturday’s fixture sees the Blues travel to bottom side Goole in what looks to be a massive match with both sides in desperate need of the points.

Goole have themselves had a recent managerial change with Nathan Helliwell departing earlier in the season. New boss Reon Potts has found it tough going so far having only won 1 match so far this season.

They did have a more positive result on Tuesday night however with a 2-2 draw against Pickering ending a run of 6 straight defeats.

The Vikings are strengthening as well with the recent signings of Khalid Suleiman and former Blue Devonte Morton adding some experience and quality to the side. Another former Blue in Harry Spooner has also been amongst the goals and will be one to watch for his old side on Saturday.
