The Azzuri’s final away game of the 2022/23 NCEL season sees us travel to high flying Emley AFC, kick off is at 7:45pm
Frickley will be looking to build on the 1-1 draw last weekend against Eccleshill, with Rich Collier’s strike earning us another point as we edge towards survival in the league. But as the games tick by, the odds look more promising and survival could again be confirmed tomorrow night.
Here’s the state of play: a win tomorrow will see our place in next season’s NCEL Premier guaranteed, a draw won’t mathematically guarantee it but, due to our superior goal difference over Bottesford and Goole, would as good as. Goole also play tomorrow night, travelling to Garforth, and if they fail to win, our survival will also be confirmed. Failing all of that, the survival wait goes into our final game as we host Goole on Saturday!!
Standing in our way are Emley AFC, who currently sit 3rd in the NCEL and still have an outside chance of securing the Promotion Play Off Spot for 2nd ahead of Winterton, so will also be searching for a win. Their last game was a 2-0 win at Knaresborough on Saturday
This will be our 3rd meeting of the season, with Emley coming out on top in both of the previous two, with a 3-1 win to knock us out of the FA Vase being followed by a repeat score line in the league a few weeks later. Our away support has been terrific from day one at Maltby way back in July so it would be great to end the away campaign on a high with another bumper following.
