It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally set to be back in action tomorrow as we welcome our local rivals Hemsworth MW to the Wezzie for our final league game of 2022, kick off is at 3.00pm
Frickley haven’t played a competitive game since the 3-2 defeat to Garforth at the start of December and haven’t played at home since the win against Maltby at the end of November. However, barring a massive shift in the weather, there shouldn’t be any problems this time
Hemsworth, though, have been very busy in those 3 weeks, fitting in a narrow defeat to Silsden before a comfortable win against Thackley in the league, capped off with an eye catching 3-2 comeback win against runaway NPL Division 1 leaders Worksop in the Sheffield Senior Cup last week. They currently sit 6th the league table
It was a fiery bank holiday bonanza back in August for the reverse fixture which was decided in the first 10 minutes. Lee Bennett got Frickley off to a dream start with a goal inside the first minute of the game before Hemsworth hit back with two quick goals to lead 2-1. Despite constant Frickley pressure for the rest of the game, we couldn’t find an equaliser and 2-1 was how it finished
Long lay offs can usually go one of two ways for a team but let’s hope that the rest has allowed a few players to shake off knocks and fatigue and be back in contention for the squad tomorrow. Wayne Benn will also have new signing Nathan Moss to choose from as well when he names his side
It promises to be a bumper crowd for a fiery festive fixture so make sure you come along to see the action. Usual amenities will be available at the ground so come along.
We would also like to thank Andy Viggars who has sponsored the match ball for tomorrows game
Let’s hope we can end 2022 on a high!!
