It’s a new month and the Blues start it by heading to league leaders Emley in the NCEL, kick off is at 3:00pm
Frickley will be looking to bounce back following a disappointing 5-1 defeat against Hallam last time out. However, other results last weekend saw us remain 9th in the league table so we’re still in a very strong position as we head into the end of this season.
Our hosts Emley moved to the top of the pile on Tuesday night where a 1-1 draw at Hallam saw them move above Campion on goal difference. The Pewits still have 3 games in hand over their closest rivals so look in a strong position to retain their top spot over the coming weeks. And they still remain in the FA Vase with a 5th round tie against Whickham to come next week, so it’s obviously gonna be a very tough one for the Blues to overcome.
The reverse fixture back in November was certainly a game for the neutral as Emley nicked it at the death in a 3-2 victory. A cagey first half exploded into life in the second half when Al Keita nodded in from a corner to put the Blues ahead.
Charlie Barks then nodded in at the other end to equalise for Emley before Ruben Jerome capitalised on a defensive error to put the visitors in front. Lewis Binns looked to have snatched a point with a worldie late on but Jerome had the last say, snatching a late winner to break Frickley hearts.
So come along and back the boys as we look to secure an upset at the home of the league leaders. No supporters bus unfortunately but live commentary through PodBean will be available if you can’t make the game, join us at 2:55pm for the coverage.
Let’s hope for a positive result to start February. Hope to see plenty of you there!!
