*Deep Breath* Well, here we go again!!
The squad’s announced, pre-season has come and gone. And now, the curtain raiser for the NCEL 2023/24 season is upon us.
We start the latest campaign by welcoming newly promoted Campion AFC to the Wezzie for our opening home fixture, kick off is at 3:00pm
Pre-Season was, results wise, a complete mixed bag with 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats from the 6 matches that we’ve played. But, as we’ve said so many times during pre-season, those results mean nothing and it was the performances and minutes in the legs that count. But now, it’s showtime!!
It’s probably one of the toughest opening day tests we could have asked for with newly promoted Campion coming into the new season on the back of a dominant league and county cup double last season. Having kept together most of their squad and following a positive pre-season, confidence will be high and they’ll be looking for a statement result
But, the Blues will be ready for them with Pat and Blake having the past week in training to get the lads prepared for the challenge. Frickley will be without Al Keita, who serves the second of a two match suspension carried over from last season, but the rest of the squad will be ready and raring to go
So come along and give the lads your full support as we look to kick the season off on a positive note. All usual match day amenities will be available so come and make an afternoon of it and cheer on the lads!!

There will also be a minutes silence before the game in memory of long time supporter Cliff Lacey. Cliff was brother to Maurice Lacey, another of our long term supporters, and father to Neil Lacey, one of our former players from the Glavin era. He will be sadly missed by all at the club
