It’s finally here as Rossington Main make the trip to Westfield Lane for our latest NCEL encounter, kick off is at 3:00pm
This fixture will see us commemorate the 40th anniversary of the miners strike back in 1984 as the Blues will take to the field in the special Frickley 2024×1984 anniversary kit.
The winless run continued for Frickley in midweek following a 2-0 away defeat at Albion Sports on Wednesday night. A fairly tight game was decided by a Robbie Fox brace via a penalty following a dubious handball by Brandon Murillo, and a second effort that Callum Bradbury got a hand to but was unable to keep out.
The result sees the Blues remain 13th in the NCEL league table on 38 points with just 6 league games remaining, 4 at home and 2 away. The end of the season is fast approaching!!
Our visitors Rossington come into the game firmly still in the playoff hunt. They start the day in 5th place, 3 points clear of 6th place Thackley who they beat in a 6 pointer last time out with a 2-0 victory. It has been an up and down run for Rossington though with 3 wins and 3 defeats in the last 6 matches.
And it was Frickley who took the bragging rights in the reverse fixture back in November with a 1-0 win. A goal from Lloyd Smith at the end of the first half was enough as Frickley withstood a barrage of Rossington chances in the 2nd half to hold on for the 3 points.
