It’s been 3 weeks but let’s hope we finally get to see some football action as we head to Barton Town in the NCEL, kick off is at 3:00pm
A 3 week period that has seen very little movement in the NCEL with every team seeing their fixtures impacted by the weather. The Blues remain in 7th place in the table at the half way stage, just 2 points outside the playoff places, but in need of a return to winning ways following a run of 4 games without a win
Our hosts Barton have been the most impacted by the bad weather, having played at least 2 games less than every other team in the division. This sees them down in 15th place in the table having themselves only won 1 game in their last 9. They did pick up a late point against Handsworth in midweek though, with Tom Waudby scoring a stoppage time equaliser to steal a point.
We can’t talk about stoppage time equalisers, however, without looking back on the reverse fixture in September which saw the two sides draw 1-1. Sam Cable looked to have won the game for Barton following a second half strike but Callum Bradbury had enough of saving goals and decided to score one instead, coming up for a last minute corner to power in the equaliser and cue major scenes within the Wezzie
