The lasses first 11v11 game ended in a very unfortunate 2-0 loss ⚽️
Here’s how it went……

As 11 nervous lasses took the pitch the whistle blew to get the game under way. The lasses passed the ball well and maintained possession quickly generating a shot for Nic which was saved by the keeper. The lasses settled into the game well, a long ball over the top saw killamarshes very fast forward take the ball towards our goal, she was no match for our solid defenders Sam, charl and Gemma who intercepted her run, won possession and cleared the ball up the wing to Laura who drove back into the Killamarshs half. The lasses held the ball up very well, making lots of passes around the Killamarshes midfield and defense and creating shots from Leigh, Holly and Nic who unfortunately could not find the back of the net. After 20 minutes the ball had barely entered the lasses half but a very quick break from there winger who crossed it into our box causing a battle between players, managed to find its way to a Killamarsh player who scored to take the score to 1-0. A quick change seeing Donna put on the left wing mixed things up and created shots from the opposite side of the pitch to test their keeper but again, shots were saved or fired over the cross bar.
The remaining 10 minutes of the first half was played around midfield with two very evenly matched teams. Keeley, Nic, Caron and susie ensured the ball never got through to our defense and set up some lovely shots for Sarah, Leigh and Holly. The lasses then showed just what they were capable of as Lucy won the ball on right wing, made a lovely pass to Keeley who rolled it through to Nic, Nic then slotted it through to Holly, leaving Holly behind the defence in a 1 to 1 with the keeper, Holly took her chance but unfortunately the ball headed straight to the keeper arms and was saved to deny a 1-1 score going into half time.
A few changes at half time saw Al challenging there wingers in a right back position. Courtney chasing the ball down to the wing to prevent any Crosses and jess working hard in midfield passing the ball around tiring out those Killamarshes legs. Susie running her legs off up n down the wing playing 1, 2s to move the ball around Killamarshes defence. The first 10 kins of the second half the lasses didn’t seem to get into the game, struggling to maintain possession and letting Killamarsh have lots of time on the ball eventually scoring a goal making it 2-0. After 15 mins the lasses made some more subs and changed some positions on the pitch to try and regain control on the game. That is exactly what they did. The last 15 minutes was dominated by the lasses, brilliant passing, maintaining possession and having what seemed like shot after shot go over the cross bar. Killamarsh then got a break down the wing, their very young and fast winger was no match for Nic who chased her down the wing and won the ball without hesitation. The lasses battled right to the end and was unfortunate to not score any goals and come away with a loss.
Special mention to our keeper Emma. Although she is very hard on her self for every goal that gets past she put in a fantastic performance, not having much to do which is good but making a couple of crucial saves and some lovely goal kicks to support the team 👏
An absolutely amazing game from 2 brilliant teams. Although Killamarsh had some very young fit players that did not stop our middle aged lasses getting stuck in and fight for every ball ⚽️
Proud of every single one for them for getting on that pitch and playing 11v11 ✌️💙⚽️
After the game as always the lasses choose a lass of the Grass, this week it was Nic…… who cannot talk about her self much so hers what the lasses had to say about her performance:
“Nic dominated midfield! Constantly tracked back and supported defence and fed through plenty of balls up front”
“Powerful midfield performance, supporting her teammates throughout and coaching everyone else to a strong performance”
“Nic didnt shy away from the fact that some of the players Killamarsh brought were half our age, fast, experienced 11 a side players, Nic beat them to the ball everytime. Great shots made, which unfortunately didnt see the back of the net. Strong, dominant performance. Even risked her life by heading the ball 👊”
Thanks again to Chris Wharton Images for being there to support us and capture us playing with some not to mention very flattering photos 🙈

Massive thanks to Howard Engineering for sponsoring our training kits which are quickly becoming our away kit due to kit clashes ❤️

Well played everyone. The comments from the spectators speak volumes of your performance, very solid game. Onto the next one ⚽️
