Recap

Glaucoma is a terrible thing – to see someone battling on & participating in the sport that they love despite the horrible disease has to be admired……up to a point

The Azzurri bowed out of the FA Trophy against a very decent, higher league Radcliffe who benefitted from……well let’s just say that they had more than God on their side

With Pierrepoint, Goundry & Adlard unavailable & players stuck in the horrendous traffic on the M62 (as were our Award Winning Media Team) we took a bit of time to settle & Radcliffe took the lead on 14 minutes.

We were back to parity 5 minutes later after Big Dev got chopped down about 25 yards out & Crouz hit a missile of a free kick, leaving the home keeper waving his glow sticks at fresh air.

Pretty attritional for the rest of the half & it ended deadlocked

The Blues had a great chance to take the lead early in the 2nd half, Crouz doing all the hard work to break free of the defence but he rolled his shot wide across the undulating goal mouth

As often happens these things come back to get you & Radcliffe took the lead on 52 minutes

Crouz tried to replicate his first half free kick but this time his effort grazed the top of the bar & then Stace The Ace did likewise from a chance in open play

The big talking point came with about 5 minutes left to play – Frickley played a ball over the top & Bomber Wells turned his defender (as he had done all game). As the defender fell he grabbed Wells round the legs (it would have been an excellent tackle for Warrington Wolves). Bomber tried to shake his legs free of the defenders clutches as it would have left him with a free run into the box but ended up tangling with the limpet like full back. The referee had no option to show the red card but incredulously waved it at Brad instead of the defender!!! It would have been comical if it hadn’t been so wretched. Perhaps the most important matter is that Brad will now miss our next 3 games

Radcliffe rubbed it in by adding a 3rd goal at the death meaning our Wembley dreams are over

3-1 does a massive disservice to the boys who gave it their all but we were playing uphill in the 2nd half – literally & metaphorically

WEBMASTER MOTM – strong displays all over the pitch once again. You could tell Kegan was back in the starting 11 again – runs through brick walls. West was excellent in about 3 different positions in the game. Bomber ran his nuts off again & Crouz & Morton are getting to know each others play with every game. But once again the pick of a strong back line & thus getting another Glitterball – Brad Beatson

TWITTER POLL MOTM – thank you to everyone who voted. The Crouz Missile comes out on top, with Beatson, West & Tyler tucked in behind him. All the votes go towards the Player Of The Month award – & Octobers results will be announced shortly

The Gaffer calls it 100% correct here

306 through the gate with a good number making the tortuous journey on the M62 – thank you to Ian & Joel for putting the supporter transport in place & thanks to our supporters for travelling

So we can concentrate on the league now – starting next Saturday with a home game against Liversedge – let’s see you all up the Everbuild Wez getting behind the boys
