Recap

Goole 0 Frickley 8

The Azzurri were in devast8ing form in front of goal as they racked up eight goals without reply at Goole, to record Frickley’s biggest away win in over 100 years.

Unusually in non-league football, the starting 11 and the bench were the same as last Saturday’s against Handsworth.

The opening 20 minutes were electrifying….

Goal 1 – 6 minutes – Lloydy swung in a corner, Mannings glanced it to Murillo and BMDub buried it.

Goal 2 – 9 minutes – A through ball was played to Big Al, he squared it to Lloydy for him to side foot it into an empty net.

Goal 3 – 17 minutes – On his birthday, The Colonel dinked it down the wing to Haighy, he controlled it beautifully before putting in an inch perfect cross for Keanan Mannings to run onto and slot in. Team goal of the night.

Goal 4 – 19 minutes – In an almost carbon copy of the first goal, Lloydy’s corner dropped to Murillo and he crashed it in for his second of a game that was effectively over as a contest, even at this early stage.

Then we had a bit of an interlude. Bradders hung onto a goalmouth scramble to remind us he was still there. And Lloydy and El Binno forced the Goole keeper into saves. HT 0-4.

The second period started with an early shot by Goole, deflected over the bar, before The Boys in Blue cranked it up a gear.

Goal 5 – 57 minutes – Lloydy floated in a free kick on the left and El Binno got in front of his marker to head in at the near post for his first Frickley goal.

Goal 6 – 69 minutes – Big Al found Boocock on the right, Rieves ran it in and showed good vision to pass back to an unmarked Big Al to net.

Goal 7 – 79 minutes – Lloydy knocked it to Big Ank on the wing, with the outside of his boot, Big Ank then turned the defender inside out before sticking it in the bottom corner. Individual goal of the night.

Goal 8 – 80 minutes – Big Ank to Big Al and he finishes cool as you like.

At that point, The Azzurri decided that they’d done enough damage. FT 0-8.

A word for our unfortunate hosts, Goole AFC, they kept going all night, despite fearsome odds against getting anything out of the game after the first 20 minutes. Their fans were very sporting as well. However, that Blues performance was something else. The lads smelled blood and showed no mercy, running till the very end. Super football, super result, just super, man! Normal service has been resumed!

WEBMASTER MOTM – Bradders caught a couple then caught up on his shut eye as Varls directed proceedings at the back. Haighy and The Elk did more attacking than defending, as did the 2-goal bagsman Brandon Murillo. Keanan Mannings and The Colonel owned the midfield. And El Binno put in one of his best shows in a blue/green shirt. He deserved that goal. Up front, Big Al and Lloydy were simply unplayable. Wade started well but got a knock and was replaced by the mercurial powerhouse Big Ank. The rest of the bench, Fletch, Rieves B, debutant Thierry Hendrickson and Josh Cummins slotted in perfectly when called upon. So it is that, after a performance where everyone played their part, the Glitterball has to go to the whole team. Well played, fellas, you all deserve it!

TWITTER MOTM – The whole team takes it from everyone, all of them and everybody. Thanks to all who voted 😀

SPONSORS/VOLUNTEERS MOTM – ‘Everyone’ was chosen by Penny Wall, Neil Howden and Michael Johnson. Well done, all!

250 through the gate with plenty from SE, all of whom went home happy. Thanks for your vocal support, it really makes a difference!

Please note that Saturday’s game against Albion Sports has been postponed due to their involvement in the FA Vase. So The Blues are next in action on Tuesday 24th October when we host Dodworth MW in the Sheffield Senior Cup at The Wezzie, 7.45pm kickoff. Hope to see you all there….
