Recap
Brewers spoil Frickley party
The Blues were left with the blues after Taddy took the spoils with an early strike.
We had a quick reshuffle before kick off as Todd Jordan (who was on the teamsheet) tweaked something in the warm up, which meant that JB came into the starting line up & Sam Liversidge took over in the back line & as captain. Haze was out for the first game of his suspension
This looked to have unsettled us & gave Taddy had the perfect start when Jonathan Margetts nodded home at the back stick from a 6th minute free kick.
The visitors kept up the pressure and the hosts took until the 22nd minute to carve out a chance of note. Ollie Russon’s curling effort forced Michael Ingham to tip it over the bar.
On the half hour mark, Taddy has two headers narrowly wide in quick succession. Then Jake Day stung Tom Jackson’s palms in the Frickley net but it stayed 1-0 at half time.
Frickley came out with intent, playing down the slope. They had several good early chances including a Johnny Pugh drive from distance and another Russon curler but ultimately came to nought.
It was definitely the home side’s turn to continue applying the pressure but clear cut goal scoring opportunities remained at a premium. Kyle Simpson had a very late header at goal but it was deflected off his own teammate.
So it was Tadcaster who doggedly hung on for the win and a place in the next round.
We can all put our tin foil models of the FA Cup away for another year sadly
MEDIA TEAM MOTM – Tom Jackson had a fairly quiet afternoon but dominated his area & collected / punched well. Currie really came into the game 2nd half after the enforced formation change after Sam Cable went off, & he linked well with Pughy. Jack Mc ran himself into the ground up top on a boiling hot day & Prior was lively in midfield. I really like the look of Russon too. But for me the 2 standouts were Jack Harrison & Sam Liversidge who were both solid at the back & I’m giving the Glitterball to Jack. Well done sir
TWITTER POLL MOTM – reflects the above thoughts, Jack Harrison won it from Sam & Johnny Pugh, with Jake Currie also polling. Thank you to everyone who voted
