Recap
I could just copy & paste any of the previous 20 odd match reports & tweak them – but I’m better than that & you deserve to read my award winning content….
Another day, another defeat – the back line defending like lions, the front line not converting their chances. However I would rather see us creating chances & missing them than not creating at all……though I dearly want us to start converting more from here on in!!
Here is what Garforths greatest ever car brake mechanic thought of it all:
Early and very late Dunston goals were enough to settle this largely attritional game despite a spirited response from the home side.
Dunston made the perfect start when Michael Fowler tucked away a 9th minute cross that the home side had more than one chance to clear. Otherwise, despite it being a half of few chances, it was Frickley who had the best of what there were. The second period opened in similar fashion but came alive ten minutes in with two gilt-edged chances, one for Frickley’s Josh Scott and one for Dunston’s Fowler. Both went begging. What it lacked in quality and clear cut opportunities, it made up for in frantic end to end action, with defenders like Tyreece Robinson and Bobby Faulkner the heroes for the home team and Michael Hall doing the same for the visitors. Then in time added on, Dunston looked to have finished it with a second for Fowler before Rod Orlando Young went straight down the other end and slotted in what turned out to be a consolation goal for Frickley.& back to me
Times are tough, very tough – but Frickley is still my football club & it’s still the best football club in the world, win lose or draw, that never changes – so come on you good people, keep rocking up to the Everbuild Wez & get behind the lads, they really need us now
WEBMASTER MOTM – a few in with a shout despite the result. Bobby Faulkner carried on doing what he loves doing – one thing I’ve noticed the last few games is that refs are penalising him for perfectly good tackles simply because they don’t think he can win the ball from his starting position. He got booked last Saturday when he pulled off a tackle that was better than Bobby Moores against Pele in the 1970 World Cup. That’s refs for you I guess….
Also in with a shout is Holli – another excellent performance. Then I’m with the back line again – Tyreece was superb & Arun Jones gets better with every game. But I’m giving the Glitterball to our longest serving player & you can count the number of bad games he has had on the fingers of one finger – Tyler Williams. Well done sir
TWITTER POLL MOTM – Tyler takes the fans vote too, ahead of Arun, Holli & Tyreece. Falks also polled some votes too. Thank you for voting
