Frickley Athletic v Marske United FC

3 nil is a harsh reflection on the game of football against a very rapid Marske team – but the defence let themselves down in the first 20 minutes (the first time they’ve not delivered this season) to find themselves 2 down & it was always going to be a battle from that point onwards.

But the Blues were ready for a battle & they took it to the visitors in the 2nd half & it was only poor final ball / pass completion that prevented us from getting something from the game.

If we had got 1 back who knows what could have happened – Marske were rattled which lead to one of their players getting a straight red for a horror tackle – but ‘ifs’ butter no parsnips

Frecks had to shuffle his (thin) pack again as he had Joe West still out injured & Brad Beatson & Lee Frecks unavailable & its times like this that managers earn their corn. It’s the easiest thing in the world just to go out & sign someone on £500 a week – we haven’t got those resources so The Gaffer has to work with what he’s got & he got his boys to respond after the first 20 minutes hiatus.

It says 3 zip in the paper but it wasn’t a 3 nil game – not in the way that the Sunderland FA Cup game was a 3 nil – so we have to take our medicine like big boys & give it another crack on Saturday when we are away to Dunston

WEBMASTER MOTM – a few players deserving a shout out. Woolly had his best game for us, Tyler was excellent again. Charlie Barks was very decent when he came on at half time. Joe Stacey is getting better with each game. But I’m giving the Glitterball to Luca Bucci – only his 2nd game back with us & he was excellent in midfield
