Recap

FRICKLEY 4 MARKET DRAYTON 1
BY FILTHY PIECE OF TOERAG

Big Wheels Keep On Turning!

Yesterdays excellent prematch playlist featured ‘Deny’ by The Clash – & there was no denying that The Azzurri were on imperious form yesterday & gave us an excellent game of football to watch.

Frecks had to shuffle the pack a little as Tom Davie was suspended & Brad Beatson & Strictly Sherburn were both unavailable. Jake Scott made his debut & it was great to see Sam Cable back at the Wezziecana where he belongs.

Take it away El Jefe Whitehead:

This was a meeting between two sides in decent form but it was Frickley who continued that fine form in a relatively comfortable 4-1 win.

Both sides started brightly with early sighters. Jake Currie and Jonny Margetts having the best of them for the home team. Margetts was also harshly denied an opener by the linesman’s flag. But it didn’t stay scoreless for long as Drayton keeper Ashley Rawlings pushed the ball away from goal only to see Jacob Hazel volley it back into the net from 8 yards on 19 minutes.

Christoph Aziamale and Joseph Thomas combined to create an opportunity for the visitors but Thomas blazed over.

On the half hour Frickley extended their lead when Margetts back heeled a Jake Currie free kick past the keeper.

A spate of yellow cards took the game towards half time, Margetts shooting just over on the whistle.

The second period opened with another home goal, Jacob Hazel feeding Bradley Wells in the 51st minute and Wells finished with aplomb.

The Blues kept the pressure on and Frickley keeper Tom Jackson was safe pair of hands when anything came towards his goal.

Hazel made it four in the 71st minute when he got on the end of a searching ball over the top and slotted it past an advancing keeper.

Christoph Aziamale got a late consolation for Drayton, rolling the ball into the bottom corner in the 87th minute.

Me again – this was an excellent team display & if you weren’t there, you missed a treat. I know it’s cold & I know money is tight but come & watch these boys play.

WEBMASTER MOTM – where do you start? TJ had a pretty quiet afternoon as the defensive unit were strong again. The spine of the team of Todd, Hotte, Holli, Currie & Margs were excellent. Wellsy was a wrecking ball up front & Haze did his usual thing (his 2 goals yesterday took him to 112 & he’s closing in on Didi Compton on 117, George Orange on 118 & Gav on 119). Jake Scott had an excellent debut too. But I’m giving the Glitterball to Jake Currie – he was on a different level yesterday afternoon.

TWITTER POLL MOTM – just to prove the supporters love goalscorers, Haze won the Twitter poll – narrowly beating Cuz. Oli Valentine, Jake Scott & Tyler also polled. Thank you to everyone who voted, all votes get carried forward towards the December Player Of The Month award

127 through the gate – thank you to everyone who attended. If you weren’t there, you missed a treat – don’t do it again.
