We’re delighted to announce that Tom Claisse has been appointed as the new First Team Manager for Frickley Athletic.
Tom brings bags of experience of both the NCEL and the NPL into the role both as a player and as a coach.
As a player, Tom started his career within the academy at Leeds United before moving to Bradford City where he featured for the 1st Team. Tom then went on to have an extensive non league career, playing around 1200 times from Conference North down to NCEL level, winning the NCEL premier on 4 occasions in the process. Most recently, he has been with Hallam and started against the Blues in last weekend’s defeat to the Countrymen.
Tom has also been involved in coaching at this level with a number of clubs. He spent 3 seasons at Emley as a player / coach as well as being part of the set up at North Ferriby during their 2022/23 NCEL winning season. Most recently, Tom was joint manager at Ossett United last season.
Phil Cooper said the below regarding Tom’s appointment:
‘We’re delighted to have Tom at the club and are looking forward to working with him.
He understands the project we have at the club not only with the First Team but with our junior sections too, and we believe that his leadership skills along with his extensive football knowledge will aid and help all the coaches at our club’
Having taken training this week and having undertaken the preparations for tomorrow’s game against Winterton, Jack Varley and Lewis Binns will remain in charge for tomorrow’s fixture with Tom watching from the sidelines. Tom’s first official fixture will then be this coming Tuesday when we welcome Thackley to Westfield Lane.
A massive thank you to Jack and Lewis for stepping up and leading the team during this period of transition at the club and for the valuable points that they have picked up on the way.
Welcome to Frickley Tom!!
