Gonna be hot today – very hot
Do you know what’s hotter? This:
We are delighted to announce the signing of Reiss Harrison from York City.
Reiss is another young Lion who is keen to show the world what he’s all about – here are his thoughts about the upcoming season, his ambitions for the future & why Roy Keane is the Big Dog!
Webmaster – tell us a bit about yourself. What position you play, what type of player are you & who have you played for previously
Reiss – I mainly play as a right wingback but also have lots on experience as a right back and centre midfield. During my youth career I was at Sheffield United Academy and Rotherham United Academy from there I moved to York City where I got offered a pro contract when I turned 17
WM – what about life outside football – how has it been during lockdown
RH – life outside football has been hard for me and a lot of players last season because there hasn’t been much football played so it’s just been making sure I’m keeping fit and being 100% ready for the upcoming season .
WM – you’re listed by York City as a wing back and midfielder, so are you more of a tiki taka Adres Iniesta or a marauding Dani Alves?
RH – when I play wing back I make sure I’m up and down all game. In this position you have to be fit and willing to attack just as much as you defend and I enjoy both. If I play midfield I like to keep the ball on the ground and pass it through teams.
WM – & who was your hero when you got into playing football
RH – my hero growing up would probably be Roy Keane, he was a top professional and loved a challenge
WM – how did the phone call go when Frecks got in touch about joining us?
RH – the phone call didn’t take long to be honest. I think we had about a 10 min chat about what the club is aiming for this season and what he wants us to play like and I think a hour later, after I told my family to see their views, I rang him back and agreed to sign so I’m just excited to get started now
WM – what’s your USP (unique selling point) that is going to make the crowds remember you at The Wezzie?
RH – my unique selling point I think would be good delivery into the box from out wide, something I’ve practiced a lot and it’s what I get the most joy from, but if a cross is coming from the other side I don’t mind poking one in at the back post
WM – did you get to play at Bootham Crescent?
RH – yeah I played a fair few times at Bootham Crescent, was always a great experience
WM – what are your hopes for the team, & for yourself, this season
RH – my hopes for this season for me is to be to gain more men’s football and be able to match them physically and get as many games under my belt as possible and as for the team I know I’ll put everything I’ve got into it and if everyone else does, you know hopefully we’ll be challenging at the top end of the table because what I’ve heard is the gaffer has put a good side together with a lot of willing young players and matched it with players who have a lot of experience in the higher leagues so it’s looking good
WM – what is your ultimate ambition in football – where do see yourself in 5 or 10 years time
RH – my ambition for the future is to play as many games as possible and progress back up the leagues into full time football
Welcome to the Wezziecana Reiss Harrison
