Club Statement – Team Restructure Update

Following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, we can confirm that Frickley Athletic won’t be running an Under 23’s men’s side going forward.

We’d like to thank Martin, Tony and their background team for the previous four years in charge of our U23’s and wish them luck in their next venture

Next season, we will be setting up a reserve team playing men’s Saturday football, we feel this will give us the opportunity to have a stronger squad to call upon and a clear pathway for reserve players to step up to the First Team accordingly, while allowing First Team players coming back from injury to get vital minutes for match fitness.

The move will also allow our current junior players the chance to transition from junior football into the Men’s game whilst remaining under the Frickley umbrella

We’re delighted to announce a management team of Rich Millward, Lee Twiby and Pete Tepper to take the newly formed reserve side for next season.

In addition to this, Greg Gardham will be taking the role of head of player development. This will include communicating with the first team, reserves and juniors ensuring there’s a smooth transition into Men’s football and a clear pathway opportunity for up and coming players.
