Nailers turn the screw on the Blues

The Blues gave a much better team performance last night but ultimately we’ve still got no points according to the Green ‘Un.

The only change from Saturday was Jake Currie came into midfield, Johnny Pugh filled in at left back & Ben Bodle was on the bench.

Yet another bright start by the Azzurri, Jake Currie had an early sighter of the Onion Bag (not you Jerry) & then Haze put a free kick over. Haze had another great chance which he created himself, the first was well saved & the rebound was blocked out for a corner.

Next up Jack Mc broke the Belper defence but his lob went agonisingly inches over.

Up at the other end TJ pulled off 2 great stops, one from close in & another from a dubious free kick.

On 33 Frickley get a corner, Haze swings it in, Todd Jordan powers it towards goal, it’s partially cleared but Sam Liversidge hammers it home.

Within 10 minutes Belper were level.

HALF TIME 1 EACH

5 minutes after the restart & the home team were ahead with a heavily deflected shot.

Frickley then had plenty of the game & built up good pressure but couldn’t find the equaliser despite several penner box scrambles. & as is often the case Belper broke away to score a fine 3rd goal. Could have been worse as they were awarded a penalty but Tom Jackson finger tipped it onto the post & it was cleared.

The Blues never stopped trying & even though they huffed & puffed they couldn’t blow the home goal down

263 in the ground, & a good number of Blues fans – thank you for your support

MEDIA TEAM MOTM – a few players getting a shout. I was impressed with Cody Prior last night. Sam Cable was strong again & Jack Mc gave the defence problems, particularly first half. Tom Jackson was given plenty to do, & he did it very well including 2 great saves first half & dominating his area more in the 2nd half. But I’m giving the Glitterball to Jack Harrison (& apologies for calling him Scott Harrison on commentary last night). Played well on Saturday & was even better yesterday.

TWITTER POLL MOTM – Tom Jackson won the Twitter Poll, followed by Jack Harrison. Sam Cable & Jack Mc also polled votes. Thank you to everyone who voted. The votes will all be counted towards the monthly Player Of The Month award which is sponsored by Bowlands Brewery again this season.

Next up, we’re oop for the coop on Saturday, as we host Tadcaster in the FA Cup at the Life Skills Wezziecana, kick off 3pm. See you there
