It’s just under 3 weeks until the lads will be returning for pre season training!! The close season has indeed flown by and the new season is now looming on the horizon.
So it’s that time of year again when the talk turns to Pre Season friendlies to whet your appetite for the new campaign. Tom’s been working hard behind the scenes and the games are now locked in.
The friendlies start on Tuesday 1st July with the latest version of El Classicoal as we welcome Ponte Colls to the Wezzie. Our NPL East neighbours have claimed the bragging rights on the last two occasions so should be a tasty game as we look to get one back on them!!
Then Friday night football returns to the Wezzie on 4th July as we host the South Elmsall derby against our good friends and partners South Elmsall United Services or The Soldiers as most people will know them.
The following Friday 11th July, there’s the small matter of Championship side Sheffield Wednesday bringing an XI to the Wezzie for what should be a fantastic occasion and hopefully a good crowd as well
It’s a busy weekend as on the following Saturday 12th July, we take a trip to the seaside to face Grimsby Borough. A supporters coach will run for this game, with the plan for the supporters to join the players and management team in Cleethorpes afterwards for an afternoon at the seaside following the match for some club bonding!!
Tuesday 15th July sees us return to the Wezzie as we welcome Emley AFC for what should be another tough test against NCEL East opposition.
The friendlies come to a close on Saturday 19th July with a dress rehearsal for the new season against last years NCEL Division 1 Play Off Finalists Dearne and District, a game that should be a very strong indicator of where we are ahead of the season which kicks off the following Saturday
